Rep. John Moolenaar

John Robert Moolenaar, born on May 8, 1961, in Midland, Michigan, is an American politician and former chemist serving as a U.S. representative since 2015. A member of the Republican Party, he represented Michigan’s 4th congressional district until 2023, when he began representing the 2nd district due to redistricting. Moolenaar holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Hope College and a Master of Public Administration from Harvard University. He started his political career on the Midland City Council before serving in the Michigan House of Representatives from 2003 to 2008 and the Michigan Senate from 2011 to 2014. Moolenaar has held several prominent roles in Congress, including serving on the Committee on Appropriations and chairing the Select Committee on Strategic Competition between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party.
