Hon. Andrew Hastie is a Member of the Australian Federal parliament. Prior to entering politics, Andrew Hastie served in the Australian Defence Force from 2003 to 2015, deploying to various theatres in the Middle East and Indo-Pacific. Andrew Hastie resigned from the ADF in 2015 to successfully contest the Canning by-election for the Liberal Party of Australia. He was re-elected in the general elections of 2016, 2019, and has served as Chair of the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security from January 2017 to December 2020, and as Assistant Minister for Defence from December 2020 to May 2022. Hastie was appointed the Shadow Minister for Defence in June 2022, and appointed to the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security in September 2022, following the general election
